I love this style of palette! I have a plastic, much cheaper one by fclub a touch larger than the ArtToolkit folio, it's probably my favourite of my large collection of "uncommon" palettes. I LOVE that the Rosemary & Co catalogue is true to size, it's honestly such a brilliant detail. They've been on my radar for some years now, but I haven't gotten any yet. I'd love some of their travel brushes, they look lovely.

This is a great video that will help me set up my new Art Toolkit palette. Thanks for reminding me that I'd rather have bigger pans for most colors, and extra mixing surfaces are always welcome. Now to decide which of the 36 colors I picked for my folio palette to set aside for another day!

In defence of the WN Field palette, I’ve had the Cotman version for about 30 years. It’s travelled all over the world on aeroplanes and hiking trips with me and is still going strong. Gold rating from me. Bonus points for proper half pans rather than quarter or eighth pans in some of the tiny palettes, and for being able to move the paints around. When I got it, the tiny brush was innovative; nowadays it usually has a couple of travel brushes attached with an elastic band. That it’s hard to attach to Only downside is its chunkiness which makes it great to fish out of a side pocket, means the sketch pad is usually in a different place to the palette.

Yeah, taste like candy by Ivy Tholen was pretty good I think I gave it a solid a grade I think it was pretty gory. The kills were definitely inventive and that’s all I’m going to see about it because no spoilers.

I have used the Cass one for years, it‘s actually made by Daler Rowney and the case and stamp on the brush are the add-ons you get only from Cass Art. I never used the case for the palette, but my iPhone 5 fit perfectly into it, so that was nice (and gives you an idea how long ago I bought it 😂). The quarter pans are a bit too tiny for my liking, though,which is why I usually take my Schmincke Whisky Palette with me, that I custom fill with full pans.

If you add a hint of diox violet to that first mix you get a great cool Smokey black.

I have the etcher 37 wells ..2 of them in fact. I only wish the sold a larger can and the pieces individually ... like build a bear! Id have 2 mixing areas w a larger can. And yes, theyre heavy.but i love mixing on porcelain. There are some $$$ brass travel palettes .. any word on them?

Love mine! I only wish that the company sold the sliding clip separately. Mines been lost for a year now. But I make it work by using a large rubber band going vertically on the outside to keep it together… thx Leslie!

I also love the art tool kit, but I thought you should know that the larger version of the portable painter is excellent because if you’re sitting down which I generally do when I’m painting it balances on your thigh. I was in Bermuda for six weeks and it holds lots of paint And I found it great because I could just sit on a beach or on a hill or anywhere I wanted and it balanced on my leg so I didn’t need a table or an easel or anything. Thank you for your excellent review and I agreed with pretty much everything you said for the ones that I have tried myself.

I'm fond of mine, although it has to compete with several other favorites. The pans are exactly the same as Winsor & Newton pans, if the poor fit of the other pans bothers you. The extras they offer through their website are actually the only way I've found to buy W&N sized pans without paint in them.

Wow, this is the third time I have come across an instance of the Schmincke flask palette box being shockingly shoddy in workmanship. Paint chipping, warping, and cap not fitting properly, were common complaints. I sure hope Schmincke makes things right for its customers who trusted their brand only to receive such a disappointing product.
